Fundamentals

Music Analysis

  1. Complete a multi-level analytical sketch containing accented non-chord tones and/or cadential 6/4 chords.
  2. Complete a multi-level analytical sketch containing pedal harmony and/or a plagal succession.

Composition

  1. Given a bass line or melody, write a second voice that contains suspensions and other accented dissonances.
  2. Harmonize a melody containing accented NCTs and the cadential 6/4.
  3. Write a period for string quartet, containing accented NCTs and the cadential 6/4.
  4. Write a contrasting middle containing a sequence and ending with a pedal.
  5. Write a minuet for piano.
