Singing Skills

  1. Perform a prepared melody highlighting the dominant seventh chord while conducting or playing an accompaniment. (2x)
  2. Sing a bass line while playing the upper three parts at the piano.
  3. Perform a compound melody while conducting. (2x)

Dictation Skills

  1. Regularly complete practice dictation.
  2. In three listens, graph** the harmonic rhythm, identify cadences, and draw “phrase marks” for passages of “real music.”** (2x)
  3. In five listens, dictate a passage of two-part music. (2x)
  4. In three listens, dictate the bass line of a passage in chorale style and supply harmonic functions. Chords include T1, T3; D5, D7, D2, D4; and DP4 and DP6.
  5. Transcribe the melody and bass of a piece of real music.

Keyboard Skills

  1. Play I–IV-V(7)–I progressions in keyboard style in any major or minor key given a scale degree pattern
  2. Play a keyboard style representation of a series of Roman numerals (including, I, I6, IV, IV6,and V), while arpeggiating with the voice.
